Delphine Plisson is the founder of La Maison Plisson. She is the mother of 15-year-old Lilas Jeanne and 7-year-old Keïzo, and the stepmother of 14-year-old Martin and 12-year-old Gaston. She also has a dog (Georges) and two goldfish (Les poissons).
Your Proustian madeleine? Rice pudding from La Régalade. Although, I could kill someone for a real homemade apple tart.
Where do you have lunch as a family? At the table—we’re very traditional. But we’ve tried it in the bathtub and in bed too. Otherwise, at La Maison Plisson. (I’m really full of myself.)
What does an after-school snack look like at your house? A simple apple is enough for me. Just kidding: spreadable topping on a brioche bun, salted butter and Belle-Île honey on a brioche bun too… But when it gets hot, we switch to a wide selection of ice cream and sorbets (on a brioche bun).
A fun activity with the kids? To avoid the Sunday evening blues—much of which is due to missing the famous film of the same name—we invented “the fake movie night”: we all watch a “great classic” together around 5 p.m. before discussing it over a big slow-cooked dish…
A recipe you can whip up in no time? Cut 4 apples into wedges, arrange them in a dish with a little salted butter, cover with cling film and microwave for 8 minutes. Voila: Super-apple sauce. YES. For the more daring, you can add double cream, spices, dried fruit, biscuits…
How do they get away with murder? Like all kids on earth: a hug, emotional blackmail, a good old “you don’t look your age”…
They make a big deal out of it when…? The fridge is empty—and we’re talking about 4 children, 3 of whom are teenagers. Especially with the job I do, it doesn’t go down very well.
A favorite product from “À La Mère de Famille”? If I get within 300 meters, I stop to buy some mini milk chocolate florentins for my grandmother. Who died in 2005. I’m still struggling to get over it, don’t judge me.
A gift for À La Mère de Famille for her 255th birthday? Dentures
As Annie Cordy said, Cho KaKakao, if you give me chocolate, what do you give me? Well, not cocoa, that would be redundant. How about a kiss, or a hug like this—it rhymes.
