Since their union in 2017, the two Parisian institutions in the world of delicacies have never ceased to give us reasons to celebrate.
The oldest chocolate shop in Paris (1761) and the oldest Parisian pastry shop (1730), already united on rue Cler, rue Cambronne, rue Lepic, rue de Lévis, and in Boulogne, now share a sixth boutique at 18 rue Daguerre – Paris XIV.To design this new boutique, our talented artisans once again worked together.
The Atelier d’Offard perpetuates the block-printing wallpaper-making expertise of the great 18th and 19th-century manufacturers. It combines the mastery of traditional techniques with modern processes and tools to create our block-printed wallpaper. Made especially for the workshop, the paper is first painted – a base coat – using large silk brushes. Respecting this ancestral gesture guarantees its pictorial qualities.
Then, the paper is painted section by section by applying the block on a manual press. The pictorial layers are thus applied, giving the finished product the texture, impasto, and chromatic richness that allow it to bear the true name of wallpaper.
Our faithful sign-maker designs and installs our signs in gold-leafed, glass-mounted letters, while the carpenter who has been with us for many years also designs all the furniture that holds our thousands of chocolates… Their mastery of their craft is exceptional, and everything thus comes together perfectly.
