Les nouvelles glaces

The new ice creams

At Paris’s oldest chocolatier, also an ice cream maker, a breath of fresh air heralds the arrival of summer…

À la Mère de Famille is launching a new fruit ice cream recipe and a new flavor of ice cream in a cup.

The wild strawberry flavor completes the range of pure-juice fruit ice creams launched last year (lemon, vine-ripened nectarine, raspberry, passion fruit and pear). For a smooth blend and a burst of zest, the chef incorporated Mara des Bois strawberries into the recipe.

The little touch that makes the difference? Small pieces of the Maison’s homemade strawberry fruit paste, the same ones found in stores, which add a soft, intense fruitiness. For those with a sweet tooth, À la Mère de Famille is also introducing a new flavor of ice cream in a cup: praline with caramelized hazelnuts. This new ice cream was made with the Maison’s homemade praline, artisan-crafted from Piedmont hazelnuts and cream.

The little extra touch? Pieces of caramelized hazelnuts for added crunch. Each recipe is made in the workshops on the Basque coast using fresh fruit selected by a Meilleur Ouvrier de France produce merchant, and the Maison’s specialties. Free from colorings, flavorings, or preservatives, they are available in cups, cones, bars, or as fruit ice creams.

These two recipes will be available in À la Mère de Famille’s 11 Paris boutiques from June 15.
