Easter bells, a tradition rooted in centuries past 

Easter is the most important holiday in the Christian religion. It celebrates the resurrection of Jesus three days after his death and marks the end of the 40 days of Lent. During these three days, church bells no longer ring as a sign of mourning. In France and Belgium, children were once told that the bells went to Rome and that upon their return, they would peal and scatter eggs and treats in the gardens as a sign of joy. In the Protestant religion, it is the Easter bunny, a symbol of spring and renewal, who brings treats to the children. In Germany, for example, children made nests for the Easter bunny to deposit eggs in during the night.  

How has the Easter tradition evolved over time ?

Chocolate bell: an entire family can enjoy it!

All are filled with delicious chocolate treats: praline chocolate, praline eggs, dry friands, praline friands, and other sweets. 

Each recipe uses the best ingredients and cocoa beans selected by us, to obtain an exceptional quality cocoa paste and cocoa butter. Depending on the desired flavors, we balance them with the natural aroma of Madagascar vanilla powder, the subtlety of caramel, the milky notes of skimmed milk, or a pinch of salt. When necessary, our chocolatiers add a touch of soy lecithin to ensure the stability of the recipe. The crisp shell of our bells comes in three versions: intense dark chocolate, creamy milk chocolate, and smooth white chocolate.

Bells as beautiful as they are shiny 

The shine and brilliance of our bells lie in our artisans' expertise in molding. They hand-spray the inside of each mold, meaning they spray it with a thin layer of cocoa butter. They then wait for it to cool before pouring several successive layers of cocoa paste until the desired thickness is achieved. The silhouette of our bells is adorned with the iconic cement tile that decorates the floor of our historic boutique at 35 rue du Faubourg Montmartre in Paris, enhanced by a charming bow in the Maison's colors.

This bell conceals the Maison's specialty beneath its elegant curves, our irresistible praline made with French hazelnuts, almonds, and Sicilian pistachios, crafted by our chocolatiers using traditional know-how. At 12.5 cm tall, this bell is the perfect size to delight a very greedy person or several little elves. It also houses a wide assortment of dry friands, praline friands, small bells, and wrapped praline eggs, and will delight every palate in its dark, milk, or white chocolate version.

How far in advance can you buy a chocolate bell?

There is no question of taking the risk of not finding your dream bell for Easter: so you want to get started early and avoid any risk of stockout? Rest assured! Kept at a temperature around 18°C, in their original packaging, away from moisture, air, and light, our À la Mère de Famille chocolates retain all their freshness for up to four months after purchase. Avoid placing them in the refrigerator, as this could alter their aromas. 

After the Easter treat, do you still have a bell on your hands? How lucky! You can also eat your chocolates for up to four months after purchase and thus make the pleasure last for several more weeks.
